Re: 1971 R75/5 Speedometer repair UK

Have you contacted someone like Motobins? They might have knowledge of repair sites. There's also Mark Huggett in Switzerland at BMBike.com...he might have some ideas.

Re: 1971 R75/5 Choke cables & replacement option

Can't say as I've had any problems with the choke cables on my /7. That said, I have seen something like you're suggesting, though not with knobs to pull on but more of a large wire circle to reach down and pull on.

Re: Clutch rod

Duane Ausherman's site shows the three piece rod...near the bottom of this page.

It's a BMW part, just one offered by Flanders.

Re: r60/2 crankshaft overhaul

Welcome to the forum! Off the top of my head, east coast, I'd say MaxBMW. They're a dealer but seem to have good abilities here. They might actually just send it off, but you could check with them.

West coast, I'd say Scottie's Workshop in Nor Cal.

Duane Ausherman talks about the transmission on this page; the discussion about the lever returning is near the bottom:

Re: Reynolds ride off stand help

Here are some pictures I have from a long time ago. One picture is taken looking from the rear, the other is looking from the front. In looking again at the setup, it does appear that the legs of the spring do bend over the bolts. I've been using this stand since around 1985 and for something like ...

Re: Pitted Tappet Cam Follower

I don't have specific information, but I rather doubt that BMW let bad parts go out the door. Just my opinion.

In my mind, ZDDP provides a cushioning effect during the rotation of engine parts. Clearly oil's job is to keep metal parts from touching other metal parts. Oil works great due to ...

Is the SF/SG code for the oil with the ZDDP or the oil that doesn’t have enough of it? Thanks.
That oil rating contains a goodly amount of ZDDP.

Re: Cam followers, piston rings and pushrod tubes

The damage to the followers is typically due to running an oil that doesn't have enough ZDDP. In the US, the API code for this oil is SF/SG...not sure what the European code is. Are there scrape marks about midway down on the pushrods? This indicates that the pushrod is touching the side of the tube ...

Re: Pitted Tappet Cam Follower

Just curious...what oil are you using? It could be that that one follower was not fully treated on that end, but that's hard to tell. Hopefully your filter has sucked up all those bits to keep the engine clean.
