Re: R69S Dover White on BAT

What am I missing? This appears to be a clean, unrestored original with under 4000 miles. Why did it stall at $14K?

Re: California and vintage BMWs?

Solvang is in a very nice part of California and I agree that the museum is really special, but Solvang is 250 miles from San Diego. If you are on a /2, you might plan an overnighter. If your emphasis is on riding, I would suggest going east on Interstate 8 then north on CA 79 through Descanso and J...

Re: Last ride of the season

Funny that your bike was referred to as a Hog. On one of my rest stops, a dad walked by with his small son, who remarked, "I didn't know BMW made Harleys!"

Speaking of mufflers

If you are thinking of buying Keihan stainless muflers, now may be the time to move ahead. The dollar and the GBP are just about the same. That drastic drop in the pound means that the Keihan mufflers for the R69S, to take one example, can be purchased for under $400 plus shipping. When I bought min...

It would be an interesting test to see if they agree to do it over!

Re: Wixom fairing

For a few years I had a Vetter Windjammer III on my R69S--the same one that appears at right without the fairing. For a short time, Craig Vetter offered mounting hardware for the /2s. It was a real barn door, but very effective in long rides around the Southwest. For a time the photo of the bike bel...

Re: Wixom fairing

Nostalgia time! That picture could be my first R69S, which I bought in '67 and sold in '77. I haven't checked in decades, but I think the fairing pieces are still in my brother's attic! The fairings (both pieces) appear on eBay from time to time and usually bring fairly high prices. Same for the Wix...

Vetter Windjammer parts

I have two lightly damaged Vetter Windjammer III fairings that are probably going to be tossed out. Each has a good windshield, air vents and attachment screws. These and other bits and pieces are free to anyone who is willing to cover the UPS shipping cost. The fairings are available as well, but u...

Re: The system is 12 volts but I'm still not happy with the headlight

I have the 12V and H4 conversions on my R69S. My experience with LED replacements for halogen bulbs has not been good. Instead, I bought the Cyclops H4 LED Headlight Conversion Kit for about eighty dollars. It is VERY bright. Try this link: https://www.cyclopsadventuresports.com/led-headlight-bulbs....
