Re: BMW Unveils the retro R18

I actually just recently saw a completed one sitting in a private museum. You can order the kit here:

$7k looks like, BYO bike.

Re: BMW Unveils the retro R18

Thanks, Barry. Since I wrote that BMW's launched a few more models to address the US market, with big fairings and bags. And, most importantly, they fixed that seat!

Re: Need help figuring out the exhaust situation on my R69S

The muffler in your pics is for a 53-54 (and '55 R67/3) plunger twin. It will not fit a "/2" style swingarm frame (as you found out). I'll leave it others to comment on aftermarket mufflers/exhaust systems. Hope that helps. Chuck S. Hugely appreciate this, Chuck. Will see if I can't find ...

Need help figuring out the exhaust situation on my R69S

Hi there, been tinkering with this R69S since it arrived in my possession this past winter. Finally got it fully operational over the summer and have been slowly getting it to where I want it. It came with a set of aftermarket pipes that are... well, loud. Not exactly my style. However, the bike als...

Re: Klaxon horn will ping, won't toot

Thanks, all, I did fiddle with the adjustment screw but perhaps not enough. Will go back at it!

@Kurt no, there's still no sound when connected directly to the battery. Does polarity matter? The terminals aren't labeled, that I saw.

Klaxon horn will ping, won't toot

Hoping someone can help me diagnose the Klaxon horn on my '65 R69S. I purchased the bike with a non-functional horn, previous owner didn't have state inspections and so never bothered with it. Here in NY I need it to pass, so started looking into it. Quickly realized the horn button on the headlight...

Will check it out, thanks... after I get the paint sorted, anyway.

Re: Paint shop?

Thanks, I looked through the vendor listing earlier and a lot of what I found were broken links or artists now enjoying a well-deserved retirement. Will keep looking :)

Re: Fender paint advice solicited

Thanks very much. Will get out the sander and see whether there's anything left under there. At this point I'm definitely planning on going with a solo saddle, though I'd been toying with the idea of a rack-mounted rear fender pillion saddle. Not sure what the proper term for that is, or whether it ...
