Re: 2024 on an R27

When I got into running the MotoGiro, I mounted a Trail Tech speedometer, which uses a wheel sensor; simple, and quite accurate. But have found my preference is using the BMW's stock speedo/odo; for me much easier to read on the fly, and has also proven itself remarkably accurate. When stopping for ...

Re: Trip Meter won't reset

Hi Charlie-
By your description, it sounds like an integrity issue with the plastic pipes, or an obstruction in the reserve side of the petcock.
Don't like the idea of dashing about London with a spare fuel can strapped onboard, whether backstreets or the circular roads.

Re: Trip Meter won't reset

Hi David- My recollection is the tripmeter was incorporated on bikes destined for the US, though maybe not available in the earliest years of Earles bikes. (B&S also spec'd BMW to include things like passenger pegs/sidestand/benchseat/US bars for the US market) As Kurt said, the 1,44 speedo is f...

Re: Steib TR500 body dimensions

Well done, Kees- Your considerable efforts have certainly paid off beautifully; wonderful work! As for braking, my outfit has the original setup, with s/c master cylinder integral within the bike rear brake rod. It is a finicky system to keep in useful tune, but I want it to remain as original. Year...

Re: '68 R69s base gasket ??

so the '68 needs an aluminum base gasket.. but what thickness should I go for? Does experience prove going with 1.5mm will reap the results or is 1.0mm sufficient? Hi Graham- That's a pretty subjective question. For myself, I ran a number of R69S bikes before finally settling on the earlier R69 mod...

Re: R25/3 Remove rear mudguard hinge

Hi Richard- I've only removed the hinge pin from Earles twin rear fenders, but from your pic it looks to be the same/similar. The usual issue is the pin can rust solid in one or more of the barrels. Then, upon attempting to swing the rear flap up for tire access or whatever, either one or more barre...

Re: Where is the best place to buy rubber parts?

Great question- That's been a pet peeve of many of us for years. Like many, I've replaced various rubber bits that have been on bikes for decades only to have the replacements look just as bad as the originals in short order. I've bought from both European and domestic suppliers with same results, o...

Re: R60 oddball kickstart problem

Hi Art-
I posted a reply to Trig's kickstart thread last year, that may help you out.
(unless your problem is as Dave's second issue, with the rebuilt segment/idler not able to roll the engine over)

Re: vape and spark plugs

Seattle- Got the Vape system for my R69 (not S) in maybe 2010 or 2012, when they were still called Powerdynamo, right when they were transitioning from being cam triggered to crank triggered. The reason I got it was specifically because they'd made that trigger change, as up to that point they'd enj...

cylinder bore

I've not had any cylinders carbided since we lost Bill Moeller, and would like to hear of shops that have proven dependable for this work.
