Re: About to buy my first Airhead...advice?

The difference between that first R 90/6 and the last R 90/6 is the difference between a bike that has been unloved and one that has been loved. I would not even consider that first bike. Lots of deferred maintenance there. Starting with the leaking fork seal. I don’t think that front fender pinstri...

Re: Stripped Drain Plug Woes - Second Update

I would double check and see if somehow your rear brake didn’t get out of adjustment and it’s causing the drag. Doubtful, but you never know. As for that drain plug, sometimes the best expert is learning how to do things yourself. No one else is ever going to care as much about your bike as you. Of ...

Re: How much do you ride your classic ?

I’ve got six motorcycles, four of them vintage. I try to ride all of them at least once a week. Since the rebuild on my R60/2, I truly enjoy riding it. Have taken it on some long, 500 mile round-trip, trips. It’s a comfortable bike to ride and easily cruises at 65 miles an hour.

Re: R69 no spark

I don’t have much to add to what the others have said. However, I had a similar situation and it turns out the new condenser I put in was bad. Swapped it for another and the bike started right up.

Re: Wixom fairing

I have the upper fairing on my bike. I couldn’t imagine running with that lower. Certainly not in any temperature over 70 degrees.

Re: One cylinder hotter than the other

Thanks for everyone’s help. Turns out the timing was a bit advanced and I had a vacuum leak between the carburetor and the head on the left side. A bit of sanding on the carb body fixed that problem and I readjusted the timing. Now when I take the temperature of both cylinders, where the exhaust man...

One cylinder hotter than the other

1965 R60/2. Newly rebuilt engine from the crank up. Presently have 60 miles on the break-in. I have noticed that the left cylinder generally runs 50 to 60° hotter than the right cylinder. When I take temperature readings close to the exhaust port the left side will run approximately 250° and the rig...

Re: Dodged a bullet with the slingers on my /2!

Going through all the records I believe the engine has approximately 60,000 miles on it.

Dodged a bullet with the slingers on my /2!

So about month ago I decided to do the top end rebuild on my 1965 R60/2. In one of my previous posts, I posted a pic of one of my cylinders that had a substantial amount of pitting and I have sent the cylinders out to be bored out. At that time I decided to go ahead and have a shop here in town, one...
