Re: Hot cylinder

Some good suggestions, but, let me add some things to check. 1. Remove the top of the carburetor, and remove the slide assembly. Check that the needles have very little up and down movement. Bikes of this vintage can have an aluminum alloy needle that wears badly. see: https://bmwmotorcycletech.info...

I had other motorcycles available (not with chairs), but the sidecar rig was Penny's favorite...I had quite a nice passenger setup. She would ride with me on any of my other 2 wh...

FYI....the R75/5 AND R75/6 may well be seen with the /9 and /10 carburetors. Those carburetors work pretty well. It is the /3 and /4 carbs, used on the early R75/5, that were so troublesome. Some will be seen with a c, others with a C, on the very top. The differences in construction of the /3/4 and...

Re: R75/6 oil pressure valve leak (disk valve)

Snipped from my oil sketch article. You likely do not have this settling hole...if you do, be sure it is clean, use a stiff piece of wire. Engine castings from 1977 or 1978 had a 1.5 mm drain-back return bore hole, item 22 in the sketches. In this area much of the breather vapors condense and the re...
