Re: Voltage Regulator Help

thank you Tommy, guidance sincerely appreciated. That wire has the fibrous sheathing fraying (fortunately it is not bare wire underneath) .. I did add some shrink tube to it for insulation since this pic was taken. I thought to replace it but it is attached under the post and I am not sure how to re...

Voltage Regulator Help

Reposting my question I mistakenly removed earlier. I have changed out the old mechanical Voltage Regulator on my 1955 R50 for a new unit from EME. Unfortunately the instructions aren’t very detailed and EME buys the units from Ulis and isn’t familiar with installation. IMG_3845.jpeg IMG_3855.jpeg C...

Re: R26 Schorsch Meier seat placement

A side note on the bench seat .. I just switched to a bench on my '55 R50 ahead of a ride to the Airheads rally in Death Valley a week ago. Taint as purty to my eye, and I originally intended to switch back after the trip, but won't now. My bike went from being uncomfortable for me after 100 miles t...

Re: starting a 65 R50/2

I used to deal with some inconsistency starting my R50. Vech posted this a while back and it works like a charm (no surprise) for me. Inconsistency was me, no doubt. Cold Start 1. turn the gas on, count to 5 1001, 1002, etc 5 seconds 2. Shove the key down. 3.Do NOT touch the throttle simply kick it....

Re: Easy Clutch

A gentleman known as Twin Headlight Ernie on the ADV website is producing a similar item if interested. I installed one on my R90/6 and have since purchased another for my R75/5 I was so pleased with the results. Many, many posts of thanks andd praise on the ADV website for the product. He charges $...

Re: r69 help on history

Thank you! I'll add it to my list. Kurt, when you are updating, this prompted me to look, and the info on my 1955 R50 never made it into the list: The BMW R 50 VIN 550375 was manufactured on March 15th, 1955 and delivered on March 16th, 1955 to the BMW importer Butler & Smith in New York City. ...

Re: Batteries

I bought some cheap little battery for the little electric scoots my grandkids play on, at a Battery’s Plus a few years ago. No problems to date.

If you use baby powder it will make things worse that using nothing.
Jim
Can you elaborate on this. I have used baby powder on tubes for well over 50 years and this is something I have never heard. I will certainly discontinue if warranted.

Re: Advice on windshield for my R75/5 please

I don't recall which model I have. A number on the windshield (KRA 31450) doesn't correspond with model numbers on the page but mine looks like those in the top row. I went thru receipts even .. sorry, don't have that one for some reason. Something to watch for is ensure you get the one with the cla...
