Re: Fuel

I've seen lawnmower engines with bent valves from rusting due to water in Ethanol. Best fuels there are for storage would be aviation or Sunoco Optima which isn't cheap. The shelf life is in years. Re: Rennesport Replica in the works

I like brakes. Don't care about fast, do care about stopping. Here's a few brakes collected, 2 I've used. Not correct for your application I suppose but they are fantastic. The 260mm TD2 I have on an R50-S is like dropping anchor. Michael "Mercury" Morse found it for me a long time ago. We...

Re: 1955 Mufflers

Just to bring this into complete perspective, according to the parts book, there were 5205 R50 bikes built with the early mufflers and 304 R69 bikes built with them. So there's your potential market. How many are even left? Dave Killjoy... ;) Still contemplating the main components just for fun. Co...

Re: R50/2 Crank compatibility?

My understanding from a BMW vintage motorcycle friend is that MAX BMW bought some serious equipment out of Germany to do crank work. I believe balancing is possible as well.

Re: 1955 Mufflers

Reproducing 1955 mufflers has been a topic of discussion here and elsewhere for at least the past 30 years as best I can remember. The only set of REAL ones I have ever seen were on a bike built by (I think) Tom Bridgers quite a few years ago (Thinking it is the one in the pic posted above). Hi Chu...
