Re: R75

Thanks, Unfortunately I don’t have the paper version and it seems it’s not on the online Hemmings Website. Can you guys give me some more direction? The price comparison is funny. It’s released by a guy who stopped his business and he has tons of these bikes in a warehouse … good motivation to put t...

R75

Hi guys,

I’m more active in the “vintage” section but I have a topic which might find better resonance over here. I’m looking to buy a R75 (wouldn’t mind a KS750 Zundapp either) and I wonder if there is someone in this forum who could help me with this search.

Thanks and best regards
Klaus

Re: Correct carbs for 1959 R69

I think that the 9/10 combination was the original carb set for the R69. I have an all original R69 in my garage which was build in the last months of the production line, and she has the 9/10 carb set. I think the list was written at a later date so it also includes replacement carbs in case you go...

Re: Determine final drive gear ratio without disassembly

Huntmiller, The counting is easier for the R51 and R67 due to the open shaft drive. For the swing arm models it’s a bit more trickier. Check out the rubber collar at the gearbox output shaft. You can feel the coupling flange and more importantly, you can feel the boltheads of the 4 bolts which conne...

Re: sidecar attachment

Hi Slobell, I'm afraid, without pictures there is a bit of guesswork going on here. I have 3 old BMW with sidecar and all of them have a rock solid connection. The Ball joints tighten up just right and then the 2 braces to the front and under the saddle stabilize the connection. There should not be ...

Re: Battery Drain

6,18 is indeed a little on the low side. However, you still should see the brake light. Are you sure the rear/brake light unit is for 6V? I know, stupid comment but still worth to check. These generators were not meant to supply the bike with permanent driving light. Remember these bikes were built ...

Re: So where do you live and ride?

I’m riding on both sides of the pond. In good ol’ upper Bavaria right between Munich and Salzburg where the alps start to build up but also in the hilly eastern townships of Montreal, Quebec during spring and fall. In Bavaria I mostly use my R75 sidecar rig and for solo either my R67 or my R69 ... t...

Re: Removing carb - 69S

warming up the inner rubber ring at the carb side makes it easier to wiggle the tube off the carb end.

Re: R51/3 – correct way of assemble the drive shaft

Micha,

before you make your own pin, check the old one. The flat side has a subtle slope ... hardly visible. And, no Loctite needed The pin will hold the crown nut in place

Re: R51/3 – correct way of assemble the drive shaft

Micha, you nailed it. First attach the drive shaft to the rear drive (don't forget to apply some heavy grease like Staburags). However, you need to make sure you shim it correctly. That is a bit of a trial and error process. You will see that the pin and the hole where the pin goes through is design...
