Re: Who is your go-to parts supplier?

1. Vintage Beemer Parts (seems to be mostly the Uli’s catalog but domestic and faster)

2. Max BMW- Bench Mark Works parts, plus the entire BMW parts catalog.

3. Uli’s

4. Mark Huggett… when I want or need absolutely the best quality or unobtainium, Huggett delivers.

Horn mounting on R69s

Anyone got a picture of how their horn is mounted on an R69s? I picked up a new project. It’s an R69s. The horn was mounted in some crazy fashion, so that had to go. - The two extra mounting brackets for the horn on the R50S/R69s were missing. - The hydraulic steering damper is in the way of using t...

Re: Cam mounted tach bearings

Ok… I guess no one has had this issue.

Cam mounted tach bearings

Anyone know how to replace the bearings in a cam mounted tach DRIVE? Looking at the input drive block, it’s not obvious how they’d be pressed in or removed, but I figure someone must have done this before.

Re: Compression every other kick???? Schleicher Cam question.

Hi, been wondering about your "oval" plug hole query ! Do you think it may be oval because oil has leaked past the plug? Well I've the same issue but it turned out to be the Blitz plug washer seating , the profile of the washer will not flatten ...what I've tried is taking a plug washer f...

Re: Compression every other kick???? Schleicher Cam question.

The butterheads were more of a mid 60s problem due to the metallurgy being used at the time. I didn't think that it was happening in the early 1960s with the R50S was being produced. The mid-sixties is when the issues emerged, to the public. Duane says the issues were a result of manufacturing proc...

If the coil is original - change the coil - it will run. A bad coil will show spark at the plugs, but not enough to run.

The coil is emerald island. Works fine

Re: Compression every other kick???? Schleicher Cam question.

Maybe the quick ride got some sediment moving around? That’s very logical, and I thought about that too, however the issue is not that it runs poorly, it’s that it won’t start. There is plenty of gas in the combustion chamber as evidenced by the very wet plugs. Under these conditions I would expect...

Re: Compression every other kick???? Schleicher Cam question.

I can't really help with the 328 cam...not sure how that really changes things. Seems like the points need to open at the right time, with some atomized fuel in the chamber. Unless the point of the S-mark is vastly different than the stock cam. Not sure what you mean by I found out during this proc...
