R60/6 Speedo/tack edging

The raised rubber rim or edging on my speedometer and tach are separating and breaking off.
Is there any way to repair this or is their a repair kit?

Thank you.

1975 BMW R60/6, foot peg rubber covers removal

Hi,

I am trying to pry off the driver and passenger rubber covers from the footpegs, and this
is proving to be difficult. Should they be cut off? Please advise?

dual plugs

Thanks Mike. It appears that only the bottom plugs on each cylinder requires this spacer. I will simply continue
to fit the spacer on new replacement plugs, when needed.

1975 R60/6 with modified cylinders to accept a second spark plug

Hello, I purchased my motorcycle from a dealer a couple of years ago. This R60/6 had a modification done to add a second spark plug/cylinder by the previous owner, as they typically have one each. My question is, when I removed the plugs for the first time to inspect, the lower plug on each cylinder...

1975 BMW R60/6, brake wear check?

I have dual drum brakes and have experienced noise, i.e. loud squeals, with the brake shoes. Is there a
way to check for wear on the shoes, without a major disassembly?

kick starter retrofit

It would be a nice to have, i.e. a kick starter, as a backup to the electric start, for cold mornings, etc.
I had a Yamaha 650, that had both and the kick starter came in handy on the cold morning starts....

turning over the pistons

Question, my starter motor failed just before I was going to store/winterize my 1975 R60/6 for the season. Can I put this bike in gear and turn over the pistons to lubricate them for winterizing?

Starter issue

Hi Kurt, I checked the battery voltage. It maintains 12-13 volts during starting attempts, showing on a voltmeter, with the headlights switched on. I have now removed the gas tank and seat to trace the issue to the relay and then the ultimately to the starter motor itself, if needed. I am not sure w...

1975 BMW R60/6, starter motor or switch is kaput

My starter failed last weekend. I went to start the bike after filling up the tank at a gas station, and when depressing the starter toggle it simply went "click", and nothing happened. I repeated turning on the ignition several times and the same thing happened, pressing the starter toggle switch, ...
