Re: Brake Pedal Extender

Ken, I've owned this bike for almost 40 yrs, and recently took it out of storage. I've never messed w the pegs, but that's' not to say a prior owner hasn't. Part of the problem are my new boots, which have thick soles and boxy toes. My first question (did the /2 series ever have a brake pedal extend...

Re: Brake Pedal Extender

Real Kenny,

You sound like the BMW factory, "our bike is perfect, the problem is your feet."

Re: Brake Pedal Extender

Thanks Mal and Schrader,

I have thought about drilling and tapping the pedal for an added plate, perhaps it'll be a winter project.

I am loath to bend the pedal arm, as it's fairly rugged and won't go easily.

There are a number of universal pedal extenders. I may play w one of those.

Brake Pedal Extender

Are there any extensions to the brake pedal, to give it more area, esp. to the right?

My boots are too thick and blunt, making it hard to comfortably reach in to the brake pedal. I'm looking for an extension, adding 2" (50cm) to the right side.

Is there anything like this??

Re: Solo Saddle - Comfort

My V7 is an early one, and the suspension is fine, if you are accustomed to vintage bikes. The whole thing is like a vintage bike. If you are looking for liter bike performance, it's not there. But if you are happy with a relaxed ride, it's great. It's like a throw back machine, but with disc brakes...

Re: Solo Saddle - Comfort

Don, What insert for the solo seat are you talking about? My Guzzi V7 is an "09. At that time they were made old-style, with pushrods and Heron heads! They were the last road going machine in the world with the Heron flat valve set up. New Guzzi V7s have modern overhead valves, and other upgrad...

Re: Solo Saddle - Comfort

I normally tour on a Guzzi V7, and for that I use an Airhawk inflatable pad, which is a huge help. For the R50, the solo saddle is uncomfortable even for short rides. The saddle curves put me in one position, with little ability to move rt/lft, forward/back. I'll go back to the bench, which I toured...

Re: Solo Saddle - Comfort

Kurt, The seat is very much a personal issue. Just making sure I'm not missing "the magic bullet" of solo seat comfort, before I strip it off and return to the old bench. It looks like for me at least, the bench is the way to go. Forget about that Slash2 IO group. I formed it when Yahoo Gr...

Solo Saddle - Comfort

After a decade hiatus, I'm putting my R50 back on the road. Replaced the well worn and poorly patched bench seat w a modern solo saddle. Damn, finding the saddle an uncomfortable ride. There's little ability to move around, you are locked into where the saddle is. An internet search shows riders div...

Oil Filter

In the May/June '21 issue of Motorcycle Classics, there's an article on installing an oil filter on a vintage Brit bike by putting the filter on an exposed oil return line. We don't have those lines on the /2, but a return side filter would prevent the oil supply worries on the existing /2 filter id...
