Re: Do I need a new starter?

@75R60

The stock Bosch unit isn't going to spin as well as the newer Valeo or Euromotoelectrics offerings. And I believe the sprag clutch (at the front gear) is NLA.

At least it was when I wanted to rebuild mine on my R90s. I went with a Valeo. Totally happy and the starter spins like a modern bike.

Re: need advise with clutch maintenance

Its a $60 part and is measured less than spec so it would be smart to replace it. Be sure to check for signs of a leaking rear main seal, oil pump cover and trans input seal while you're in there. A slipping clutch on a long trip isn't any fun. You probably already know this, but you only want to ap...

Re: Custom R90S /5 for sale

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but I don't see anything that tells me it's a R90s hybrid.

Tell us the engine VIN number please.

Thanks Mike,

I think I'm just going to dive into it and see how it comes out.

Tamiya model

I had a couple of these kits for years and I would really like to complete at least one. I've built models when I was a kid, so no problems there, but I haven't started one because I want to get the Silver Smoke paint correct. Has anyone built one of these and if so, what did you do to paint it corr...

Re: R75/6 Clutch noise

It's pretty normal if the noise disappears when the clutch is dis-engaged. It's a dry clutch setup and it's the small amount of play on the throw-out bearing assy. and thrust rod. In some cases, the felt on the thrust rod is missing. You could pull the rod to verify if the felt is still there. Item ...

Re: Great R90S Video

Very enjoyable. I love seeing well used, high mileage R90s's in their true element.

Thanks for sharing Mac.

Re: Hubs: paint, power coat, or bare?

Consider using a product called T-9 Boeshield. The owner, Peter Schwartz is a longtime R90s owner and contributed greatly to the R90s club with samples of his product. You can look it up to verify, but it's a spray on liquid that leaves a waxy film to prevent rust and corrosion. Years ago I installe...

Re: R90S Mirrors?

"It was my understanding that the thin stem curved mirrors only came on 1974 90S’s and for 75-76 models they were still thin stemmed but straight opposed to curved. Am I incorrect on this?" I would say yes as my '74 came with the thin but lower bent mirrors (closer to the handlebars). RickG

Re: 1974 R90S VERSUS '75 & '76, DIFFERENCES

The original mirrors on my early '74 (built 10/73) are thin but appear to have a shallower angle to the end of the bars compared to other, later models I've seen.
