Re: What’s this gunk in my right carb?

Hey thanks for this bit! I finished my cross country ride and picked up a decent wind rain breaker in TN. I agree, layers are the answer. Crossed the Rockies in the 30’s and 2 days later was driving in the Moab desert at 120F. That was too much for me but we persevered and made it to the pacific.

Re: BMW repair

Thanks for your insight Armand. It’s been 1000 miles and the bike has been faithful. The relay also affects the Power to the headlights and tail lights switches as well as the blinkers. Oh and dash assembly. Everything has been good since replacing the relay. To Schraders point, I did test impedance...

Re: BMW repair

Thank you guys again for your insight. The starter relay came in this morning from EME. We plugged it in and Wala the bike seems to be running well. I’ll do another follow up on this once we get to our destination in 1500 miles :-)

Re: BMW repair

This is happened five times now and each time it seems we found some thing small to blame it on, but in general the bike seems to lose power, starts bucking like it’s an electrical issue, and then eventually quits. We have found pitted points, and replaced them twice. Including the condenser. We’ve ...

Hey I’m in Durango Colorado midway thru a cross country ride with my R100/7 1978. It’s having electrical issues. Can anyone recommend a BMW guy between Colorado and LA?

Re: Road side repair front crankshaft seal

Thank you everyone for your help. As a follow up, I attempted to pull the oil seal but was afraid of damaging it so stopped short of that. I ended up leaving the seal in place as you can see in the photo and have not experienced any ill affects after 1000 miles.

Re: Road side repair front crankshaft seal

Thank you Schrader! I managed to get the seal out... prying and pulling
Now... I sank the new seal in too far. How crucial is it to be flush with the casing?

Road side repair front crankshaft seal

Hey y’all, I’ve done this before in the comfort of my shop. And I have the tool that removes the stator which I have removed as you can see from the picture. My problem is I’m trying to remove the seal itself so I can replace it. It’s leaking oil into my points and Fallon up my trip :-) anyone have ...
