Re: How does the VAPE electronic ignition work?

This is what LC from the Bing Agency wrote: "Set the mix screw at 2 turns out. If the engine comes off idle without stumbling, then it is fine. If it stumbles, because of a lean condition, turn the screw in a little. This will richen the idle mix. If it is too rich, Turn the screw out, as this ...

Pushrod tube seals still available from BMW dealer

After blowing out new aftermarket seals I discovered the rubber seals for the pushrods on our /2 bikes are still available from the BMW dealer. The BMW part number is 11110033163. The shoulder of the genuine part is thicker, and that's exactly where my aftermarket seals came apart within 10 miles af...

Re: How does the VAPE electronic ignition work?

Update: the VAPE system works fine now with starting the R69S. It does kick back once in a while when starting but I'm not worried about that. The main solution was a modified startup procedure like George suggested, and getting the (high compression) engine to turn fast enough during kickstart. My ...

Info about carbs for R69S needed

Can anyone tell me where I can see (preferably download) the official Bing documentation for the lever top Type 120 1/26/91 and 1/26/92 carbs for a R69S? I mean with the cross sections of the carb and description of workings of the various parts (idle circuit etc.). I believe it is also named an SLN...

Re: R27 Petcock

The guy who sold me an Everbest repro said they were rubber inside and would seal better than the original cork. However on this repro the flanges for connecting the tap to the tank and to the lower part with the fuel line connection are quite crude, and too irregular to properly accommodate the fib...

Re: 1935 R12 Cylinder Head Torque Value?

I don't think there are official torque values for the heads. Here are some "official' specs, no mention of head torque values. On mine I tightened them in cross pattern by feel, not too tight keeping in mind the heads are alloy, and there are many nuts. They can't be reached with a torque wren...

Re: Compression every other kick???? Schleicher Cam question.

Perhaps it would help to make a timing diagram of the valves and ignition point. You can mount a degree wheel on the front of the crank, measure valve lift with dial gauges. For the points I use one of those Aircraft Spruce boxes to not have to disconnect the points for measuring when they open. It ...

Re: How does the VAPE electronic ignition work?

Wow George, thanks for your extensive explanation, it really helps. Meantime I had contact with the folks at VAPE and their response gives hope I don't have to ditch their system. The strobe now measures spark during kickstarting with the plugs in place i.e. under compression. Next step is to figure...
