Re: Speedo/Horn Rebuild

The horns I’m working on are the French made Klaxon variety indicative of the /2 era.

Should these sound on the bench when connected to a 6v battery or am I missing something? Does the center rear stud need to be grounded as well?

Speedo/Horn Rebuild

Anyone ever take a stab at rebuilding these themselves? I’ve torn a non-op horn down, cleaned it up internally and familiarized myself with the design and how it all goes together but I can’t say that I’ve effectively “fixed” one yet. Before I did anything I hooked it up to a 6v battery with a coupl...

Rotting rubber woes…

A few years ago a found a nice survivor R80GS that had been parked for 7-8 years and decided to bring it home and resurrect it. I went through and resealed everything, rebuilt much of it and generally fell in love with the bike. I completed the work about two years ago mounted a fresh set of Metzele...

Re: 1969 R69S Advice to a new comer

Have you seen this one in person? These days the scams are more prevalent than actual offerings. For your sake I hope it’s real but i haven’t seen a complete anything for that cheap in a long while.

If it all adds up go get it.

Re: Where is the best place to buy rubber parts?

I ordered a full set of rubber parts for a bike I went through 2 years ago from EME. Pushrod tube rubbers are already cracking, drive boot, etc etc. The time involved in installing these vs the time they last is ridiculous. Yhe... that's my problem, I need do replace the pushrod tube rubbers & ...

Re: Only modern tires from now on....

The only thing better than modern tires for supreme performance is…. You guessed it, a modern bike.

I’ll stick with heidenau’s or metzelers. I live in the boons where rain grooves aren’t a thing and when I rarely encounter them in my travels, I just sit back and relax.

Recheck your mag rotor and confirm that the hash mark WITH the punch is exactly at 12 o'clock when the S mark is in the window. Don't assume that it is because you put it there when you installed it. I've seen them spin.
