Ok, friends, I'm always careful when working with vintage, mostly unreplaceable stuff. I've hit that point where I think there's a simple trick I'm missing. Help me out if you can.
The bike is a 1967 R50/2 which means it has the Earles Fork front end.
I got it with a never installed Wixom Ranger upper and lower fairing set. As you know, the lower is in two parts. There's a center section that bolts to the frame down tubes and then the larger section, the "wings which attaches to the center section and the frame.
I'm trying to get the center piece installed. I have the bike on the center stand. I can't find clearance to slip the center piece in from the side, no matter which way I turn the front wheel. On the center stand there's not enough clearance to lift it in from below.
I have the harbor freight scissor lift motorcycle stand but the stand itself will be mostly in the way, or so it appears, if I lift the bike and try to install the center section while on the lift.
I'm sure I'm overthinking this.
Your insights appreciated.
I've never seen the Ranger fairing with lowers. I've got the Ranger fairing but just the part that mounts to the handlebars. Any chance you have some pictures?
Loved your pictures. I have a fairing like that too, for my R60/2. I have often wondered exactly about the pin striping pattern. It looks like yours is in original condition. I have 5 coats of black, and put decals on. I want to remove them and get a proper striping done. Do you know where I can get the pattern?

So, all it took was a coffee break and time to post the question.
The part is installed. Here's what worked for me:
Bike on the scissors lift at maximum height with the front lift arm of the lift being at least 6 inches back from the bend of the exhaust pipes.
Front wheel hard to the left. from the left side you can lever the center section in at an angle tilted back and to the left - once you've got it - move the wheel to center and the part is trapped by the wheel allowing easy fastener install.
