Looking for opinions/experience about the best rear tire for my just finished R50/2. It came with a Metzeler Perfect 77 100/90 on the front that I like a lot but have not been able to source a 3.50 Perfect 77 rear in the US. (lots of places in Europe). Vech has the original 3.50 block C . It came with a 4.10 Yokohama rear, handles like a truck. My Slimline Feather bed Norton is like dancing with Ginger Rodgers, the /2 with its currant rear is a bit like waltzing with Angela Merkel. Opinions welcome.

I've used IRC GS-11 tires

I've used IRC GS-11 tires front and rear on my R69S. Seems to work just fine for me.

Avon Roadrider AM26

Avon Roadrider AM26 100/90-18.

Great high speed stability, quiet, great turn-in, sticks like glue.

I run Avon Roadriders on my

I run Avon Roadriders on my /5 and I love them, the Norton will be wearing them too. I have run Avon tires (Roadrunners, TF's, Azaro's, Safety Mileagemasters and Roadriders) for years and I swear by them!

I have never figured out why, but Avon's stick better in the wet (and that is a GOOD trait for a bike-tire!!).

When I checked a few months

When I checked a few months ago, I could not find the Avons anywhere in North America. Today, I had more luck.

I also found the ME 77 Perfect Metzelers listed on their website. Here is the link.

If you look at the list of US dealers for Metzeler, you will see this note: "Not all dealers "stock" our product, but all have the ability to order what you require."

I like both of these tires, so this is promising. My front Metzeler is getting a bit thin, and the Avon on the rear probably has one more season left in it.

Stay away from the Block-C

Stay away from the Block-C unless you are like me and have to have the "original" tires. I found out he hard way they are virtually undrivable on grooved American freeways! They will make you feel like you have 2 flat tires and are doing a "tank slapper"...very scary!

Thanks all. The ES2 wears

Thanks all. The ES2 wears Avons, Speedmaster front Super Venom rear. She can make an old guy like me feel a lot younger. I don't expect the same agility from the R50/2 but want the best I can get. Keep it coming
