The specs look the same to me but what is the difference between R2 of 1932 and a R2 of 1933?

I don't know the singles well...

In this era, even with the onslaught of the Great Depression, BMW was making big advances on their bikes. Each year they changed and added many features around the bikes. I have the parts list for the R11/R16 models, and based on looking through that, I think trying to correctly restore one would be really awful. There are a number of one year only changes -- many not pictured in the diagrams. There are 5 columns on the right side of each page listing parts, which tells how many of each part is needed for each year bike. This is how you find out when parts came in and out of use. I believe that the R2, and maybe the R3 and R4, went through this same kind of evolution.

Darryl is correct (as usual),

Darryl is correct (as usual), R2 changes (after '31) were minor but significant.
Speaking as someone who is reaching the end of an R2 restoration it can be incredibly confusing (and silly-expensive).
