Veterama in Mannheim (Germany) is next weekend, October 8, 9 and 10. I will be attending and would be happy to meet up with anyone who will be there.

I am always happy to look,

I am always happy to look, but I am not sure I wouldd recognize an original and correct piece from an R62 or R11 if it jumped up and bit me on the rear. One of these days I will have a sale of all the extra stuff I have bought in package deals or by mistake! There are only one or two vendors I would trust to correctly identify such a piece.

Send me your contact info just in case, however.

i realise it's a long shot at

i realise it's a long shot at best, but i can always hope. i would imagine that the easiest way to find me is good old email;i have the direct address here on the forum but here it is anyway...: barryrobin@aol.com

if your R11 is a 29' to 31 single carb setup you should have the same one i'm looking for-unless you have a sum carb.

pedro costa has a picture here in the members galleries that shows it.

Unfortunately, my knowledge

Unfortunately, my knowledge base starts with my 1935 R12. I don't have an R11:-(

The pix are helpful.

I will be at Barbers in Alabama

I have always wanted to make Veterama, I did make Technorama in 2003.
I am going to Barbers for the vintage Festival that weekend (I need Norton-Caferacer-bits).

Bruce, post pictures of whatever follows you home (we all know that something will!).

Vince

You can see my pictures

You can see my pictures here:
Veterama Pix

I've been on the road (including dodging the demonstrations in Paris) so I have been a bit slow in sorting through the ┬▒350 images I took. There was lots of eye candy including an R17 of dubious heritage and an R32, but I was unable to find the few items on my list (there are ALWAYS 170mm headlights, it seems....except this time).

I bumped into Peter Nettesheim, Craig and Elaine Vechorik and Chris and Barbara Betjemann which made the visit more interesting.

Peter...if you have the opportunity, I would love to hear your comments about some of the restored BMWs that were offered there.

Barry...no original carbs (lots of repops), but I saw a manifold that looked like it might be correct. I can give you contact info if you are interested.

nice pics, bruce. thanks for

nice pics, bruce. thanks for looking for me. i'm afraid that i do have the manifold already on my bike, so i'll have to pass on that. but, just for curiosity's sake, how did the quality of the repop carbs look...and how much were they asking?

There are 5 basic options of

Barry,

There are 5 basic options of repop carbs for your R11 that I can think of:

1. Twin "Graetzin" carbs that show up almost exclusively on the eastern European restored R12 and "R71". These frequently show up on e-Bay.

2. A single "SUM" that is, I think, more of an R35 than an R12 reproduction. Vmoto and Koni. Koni is a good guy and speaks decent English. The carbs look good. He may get his from Vmoto or the other way around. Koni has more stuff than shows on his site. Drop him a note and ask.

3. Reproduction Fischer Amals like these offered by Tillmanns

4. British Amals like the pre-monoblocks carried by Hitchcocks

5. Martin Schumann at Kla-mot-te (klamotte2OO6 at aol.com or oldiedoc at t-online.de) has a horizontal Bing that is supposed to work with an R12. I think he also has the Graetzins.

Somewhere in the past I have seen a repop of an R52/62 type carb, but I don't remember where. I will look next time I am in my archives (that makes it sound better then the folder box stuffed full of cards, flyers and handouts).
