What is this?

Frame 4691 could be either an R12 from 1935 or 1936 (not sure where the numbers break here) or a 1932 R2 Series II. Is it a single or a twin?

bmw chassis

with no engine i can not determine if it was a single or a twin, the frame looks large enough for a twin. the transmission is still in the frame, and the transmission has a tool box in the bottom, i have not seen this in the single.[/img]

The kickstarter of an R2 is on the right; for an R12, it's on the left. If you can see the forks, an R2 has a stamped steel trailing link fork while the R12 has telescopics with oval x-section covers.

The kick starter is on the left side and the forks are leading link.
