Hi,

New to the forum as I have yet to own a BMW. I'm interested in the above-referenced bike, but I've heard it described as 'dodgy' etc. and that the transmission has a weak gear.

Are there other issues with this model/year that I should be aware of?

thanks in advance!

Woody -

Welcome...hope you find what you want. Yes, the 1974 year was something of a transition year. The tranny was not that reliable, although there are many out there still doing strong. Other things like the flywheel bolts were somewhat undersized and could be sheared off. But if you're not launching down the dragstrip, maybe it's something of a non-issue.

This website page speaks to model differences:

Snowbum, as he's called, has quite a bit of info on the old Airheads. Check it out for other valuable info. Don't plan on doing anything for the next week, though...he tends to be a bit verbose!
