I have been collecting parts for my 1928 R47 for about 35 years and have got all parts together and have at last started restoration.
The only part I have not managed to find is the small curved Bosch horn which was originally fitted.
I have got a Bosch DF 6/1 ,which was fitted to the R52 of 1928. Would this be incorrect for the R47?
The book "BMW Typen und Technik" , which I have always regarded as the BMW Bible shows a R47 with a Bosch DF 6/1 but I don't know if this was an after market fitment.
Would anyone know of a source for a Bosch UC6 horn?

Bosch Horn Type UC6

Judging by the price, I guess this qualifies as "unobtainium".

horney answer

The horn you seek is available in reproduction, if you are unwilling to pay the price for an original (I have seen as high as $1000 and others not much less than that) The repro unit is easily identified as the "Bell" is a seperate piece jamed into the main housing where as the original has a nice ring where the two join. The R52 horn is not correct. What headlight do you have?

R47 Horn

Thanks for that Peter.
Any idea who supplies this reproduction horn?
I got the headlamp from Josef Kast and later found another at a local autojumble, they must have been fitted to early cars as there were almost no BMW bikes imported into South Africa prior to 1930 .
