My bike has finally arrived and now the work begins.
I'll start with an easy question for someone with a similar bike.
I can see where the spring attaches to the centre stand, but where does the other end of the stand spring go to?
If someone could send a description or even a photo this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Peter.
I checked my photos, but I don't have a good shot of the location. There's a bracing web on the underside of the carrier, and this has a hole in it to accept the centerstand spring.
My R52 doesn't have an original (nr a very good repro) battery strap. Mine has two 10mm bolts that hold it to the inside of the carrier. On the outside, the strap ends with a captured dowel that is drilled and threaded crosswise, like the piece used in the band that holds the magneto to the top of the motor. A screw is placed through the battery carrier from the bottom and threaded into this dowel.
I believe that Dreher carries a hold down strap. (http://www.dreher-oldtimerteile.de)
The spring hooks to the bottom of the battery carrier.
