Hello, and welcome to the VBMWMO Forum, where you can chat and learn about all things Vintage Beemer!

This forum is sponsored by the Vintage BMW Motorcycle Owners (VBMWMO) club. Part of it is open to the public, and part of it is for the private use of club members.

VBMWMO members have full access to the forum. Visitors to the forum who are not registered can read topics under discussion in the public area, but may not post. Visitors are welcome to register, and can then participate in public topics, but still may not visit the Services/Members Only areas.

All current VBMWMO members have already been entered into the forum's membership database. Please DO NOT create a new account, you will NOT be able to use it to visit the Services area! In order to log in, click on the Log In link near the top of this page.

Your user name consists of your last name followed by your VBMWMO membership number. Your password is your first name followed by your zip or postal code. In all instances, letters will be lower case and there will be no spaces or punctuation. All prefixes and suffixes were excluded. Only the zip code (and not the +4 digits) were used, from US addresses.

For example, if you signed up as Dr. J. Doe, III, live in zip code 12345-6789, and received membership number 9999, then you would sign in with:

  • username doe9999
  • password j12345

Note, however, that if your application listed you as Dr. Jane Doe, III, your password would be jane12345.

We highly, highly, highly! recommend you change your password. You can do this after logging in by clicking on the Profile link near the VBMWMO logo. If you find that the generated username is not to your liking, you can change it at the same time.

For all forum members, we remind you that this is a family oriented board. VBMWMO reserves the right to delete any posting, and/or remove any forum user, for any reason whatsoever.

Something similar happened to another person a few weeks ago. Here was the response from the forum moderator.

If that doesn't help, I'm sure the moderator will work things out soon.

Hello I have read the link with no help received. I paid with Paypal and would think in the age of computer speed and efficiency that my paid membership would be process quickly! I did receive this message: Your account on "Vintage BMW Motorcycle Owners, Inc." has now been activated; you may login using the username and password you received in a previous email, so this does not tell me that this is the free limited membership or that this is my paid membership? How long and in what manner do you notify when your paid membership is activated? Do you send it by the US Postal service or Pony Express? I must say if I could ask for a refund I would take it! You have a slick Webpage that appears to be attached to a great functioning website but so far I would say that is not the case! I am very disappointed. Yes I have read that you are volunteers but if that is the case why not provide that info in your paid membership sign up page? Yes we who pay quickly expect to be rewarded with the services that we have paid for quickly! I know I must be naïve…-- Sad

Hi Patrick! I think you may have jumped the gun. I've looked at your account here, and it seems correct for your membership. But it looks like you posted this aecond message about 45 minutes before our secretary actually entered your information into the database. Please understand that we are an all-volunteer organization, and when you sent in your Paypal payment, the secretary gets an email and adds the membership. I suggest you give it another look.

Unfortunately, if this doesn't work, it may take a while before I can actually look deeper into it. I'm on the road right now, and will be entering Mexico tomorrow. Please let me know how it goes.

Thanks, and welcome to the club!

hi Darryl,

D'oh...i think i accidentally reset and deactivated my account by trying to combine my old account with my new VBMWMO account. my VBMWMO account user id was/is design7490. my old user id was prometheus or otterx. i tried a couple of different combo's to try and fix it but just further bollocks'ed it up.

any admin help to reset would be appreciated. i'll leave my VBMWMO account well enough alone next time and just change the password.

thank you.

You have, indeed, managed to get your two accounts mixed up. The user name for your club account is promethius. I can't tell you what your password is there, the system records it in a one-way encrypted format. I can reset it if you can't recall it, just let me know. However, I am on the road right now, and my connection to the internet is irregular.
