Hello all, can you pls explain how to use it?
I know that the tank is supported on the front with the bolts attaching it to the front frame section.
So why is nr. 23 there for?
Thanks.

Mine didnt have one
Looks like a bracket that went on the lower crossbeam on the frame and then connected to the tank with 2 bolts threaded into the bracket
???

Good question

I've wondered about that myself. My 51 R67 has no bracket there and the frame doesn't show any evidence that anything was ever there though I assume something must have been long ago.

I have that bracket on my R51/3 and R67/2...I got them from spikebuck on ebay IIRC. They are threaded nuts on the bracket and the bolts go through the small brackets on the
tank.

I got an answer from Mark

I got an answer from Mark himself, and this is what he wrote:

The bracket 16 11 4 080 296 under the tank in the front is required to stabilize the two tank halves, especially when they are full. If you do not fit this part, you will risk that the tank weld at the top near the steering head may suffer from fatigue and leak.
The two 07 11 9 913 418 bolts are there to hold the bracket in place.

I got 3 of these Georg Meier

I got 3 of these Georg Meier tanks, 1 for my R67 and 2 for my /2 bikes. Only the tank for the plunger has the 2 "ears" to attach the bracket. I wonder if the shorter front mount of the /2 version of this tank doesn't require this bracket anymore.
