What do you recommend for the Spark Plug Gap on an R60/2 or R69s motorcycle? The original BMW Manual states .028, but other experts say .025 even .024. I assume the lower gap size is due to the ease of starting with the inherent weakness in the kick start on a 6 volt system. However, when running the .028 gap gives a larger spark and I assume better more complete burn of the charge in the chamber. In the end does it really make a difference?
Thanks in advance for your comments, ~Barlow

With a system that has been

With a system that has been properly setup and close to good tune, I would think the standard gap would be fine. I was remembering 0.026" but it probably won't make that much difference.

Kurt, Thanks! The original

Kurt, Thanks! The original manual has .028 as the standard gap. Vech does .024, Barrington and Tim Stafford do .025. They know better than me, but I am sure that BMW engineering did a lot of testing to set the gap at .028 and it might give a more complete burn of the charge.
I was doing .025, but with a lot of city driving .028 might burn the charge better. I'll see how it is for starting....
