Hello All,

I just brought home my new-to-me '76 R90S. It's a 14k-mile bike in Smoke Silver and it seems to be a pretty nice example.

Is there an owner's manual for the 1976 bikes? The manual that came with the bike was printed in February, 1975. I'd like to know if BMW printed a manual specific to the 1976 /6 and R90S machines.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think BMW printed

I don't think BMW printed year-specific owner's manuals. Certainly shop manuals might have some differences but typically there are tables which lay things out. I'm aware that the '76 model engine case opening for the cylinders increased to 99mm over 97mm prior to that point. Things like that...but that doesn't affect the normal maintenance features of the bike.

I'm aware of that but BMW did

I'm aware of that but BMW did print owner's manuals for the /6 and R90S in December, 1973 and February, 1975. I was just wondering if they did the same for the '76 model year.

OM

MotoBins has repro manuals. Try part number 01456. It looks pretty much like my OM printed 11/75. It covers R60,R75, R90, '74-'76.

Thanks, Randy. You also

Thanks, Randy. You also answered my original question and it does appear that a 1976 owner’s manual was produced by BMW as evidenced by the one you have that was printed in November, 1975.

Whoops

I was in error in my last post. I mistakenly dated Randy’s owner’s manual as as having been printed in 11/75. The 11 should be Roman numerals ll, as in February as that’s how BMW dated their literature, using Roman numerals for the month and Arabic numbers for the year. For example, I have another BMW manual dated Xll/73, or December, 1973. Sorry for the confusion.

Which brings me back to my original question. Is there a /6 and R90S owner’s manual that’s dated later than ll/75 (February, 1975)?

Thanks.

I really wonder why/if BMW

I really wonder why/if BMW would print anything later than that. They likely knew the '76 model was going to be the last of the /6 series. So if they had sufficient stock, why would they print another round, especially if virtually nothing changes in the manual.
