Did the R60/2 air cleaners originally have Knecht decals? I have an R69S air cleaner that has decals, so that got me wondering. I could not find a source for the decals.

R60/2 air filter decals

Thanks Kurt, those posts are about the R69S large air filter decals. Did the smaller air cleaners with a choke for R50 - R60/2 come with a decal? I have not found any photos of one, so I am inclined to think not at this point.

Having owned from new a R50 and R60 neither of these bikes had decals on the Air Filter . The first bike was the R69s .

Just Keep In Mind

Just keep in mind that all the last couple of years' bikes had the large air filter. But sounds like yours is the small one with no decal.

Small A/C vs. large A/C

Yes, mine is a '64, and it came with the small A/C. Is the small A/C restrictive? Should I use the larger one for better breathing, or is there some other reason BMW switched to the larger A/C?

BMW released a bulletin in

BMW released a bulletin in Jul/Aug 1967 that all bikes would go to the non-lever air filter cover. Slabon doesn't mention the reason why, though. I doubt that any BMW engine has restrictive breathing for the stock set up, so I wouldn't be too worried about it. I suspect the reason was so that BMW didn't have to double up on inventory and could save a few pennies by streamlining the operation a bit.
