After removing the flywheel there is a seal housing held on by 5 6mm nuts. Can the seal be pried from the housing for replacement or does the housing need to be removed and the seal pressed out and in? If the housing needs to be removed, does it just pry out after removing the nuts? Mine does not appear to have leaked but I have it apart and have the replacement parts. None of the books I have explain this at all. I am looking for a proper proceedure ( I don't wanna booger anything up ). Please advise. Thank you!

That is also the rear bearing carrier.

If you are going to be into

If you are going to be into the bike this far you ought to consider getting the Barrington manual. It describes what you are doing now and everything else you might ever want to do in great detail.

As Twocams said: The housing is your rear main bearing carrier. It comes out AFTER you remove your crank shaft. The seal can be removed with a good seal puller and replaced with a hardwood block. I just finished rebuilding my lower end so I had an old rear main bearing available which worked real well along with the flywheel bolt to push the new seal into place.

In all honesty, If you see no sign of leaking I might re-think replacing the seal.

The manual can be purchased

The manual can be purchased through Vech. I would suspect you could order direct from Barrington Motor Works in New Hampshire.
