I finally got my low bars installed with my new Hella bard end signals working...just ordered headlight mounted mirrors from Vech. Before I close everything up in the headlight shell,I'm addressing the speedo light that won't work. I had to steal a ground from the headlight to make it work. I purchased a 6 volt LED from Superbrightled.com the bulb works and is super bright but its shape is too wide to fit into the speedo hole. The bulb is kinda barrel shaped and too wide.

Does anyone know of a source for 6 volt LEDs that fit into the speedo without modification?
Thanks in advance

You would think that Vech

You would think that Vech would know this or show it on his website, but he doesn't. You might check with these people:

http://culayer.com/

They supply LED alternatives for brake lights, etc.

Update us

Please share your findings with us once you've managed to locate a good source of LEDs.

speedo light

Why not just replace it with the 6volt .6 watt bulb # 07 11 9978270
It only draws .01 amps
Are they not available

BrianI don't think Vech

Brian
I don't think Vech offers a LED headlight bulb or speedo bulb. Last time we spoke he is working on a replacement source for the Bulbs that Last Forever guy who made the incredible LED cluster tail lights...he shut down unfortuately

there is an amazing shop in the UK that sells a broad range of 6 volt bulbs; Classic Dynamo and Regulator Conversions... catchy name I must say
http://www.dynamoregulatorconversions.com/

very informative web site though largely geared to Brit bikes...their Lucas bulbs made my '51 Norton much safer.
(now all it needs is brakes...grin)

their speedo light is bulb #BE2B (check your bulb diameter and length to be sure) I've put it in my R27 and R51 and they work fine. Only slightly brighter than the incandescent bulbs but every bit helps and they will probably never blow. and anything to reduce wattage draw has got to help the charging system?

They offer a 6 volt Bosch headlight LED bulb that is amazing. really bright and visible in daytime use.

A big bonus is they are 100 % reliable... last forever ?? Plus seems to focus more like the old incandescent bulb. They don't have that strange focus issue that the halogen bulbs have, which, though brighter than the incandescent had a patchy look to the illuminated zone. I went back and forth but felt I get better lighting with the old incandescent. I could see the road better away from city lights with the incandecent yet felt more visible to others in day-time driving with the halogen if that makes sense ?

Both halogen and incandescent had a habit of blowing, perhaps due to vibration? Usually I would loose only high or low beam so still had light to get home...changing bulbs on the roadside in the dark, in the rain...good times eh !!

I do plenty of nighttime driving on my R-51 and R27 and the new LED headlight bulb is a huge improvement at night on the highway. Everybody comments on how bright the LED is...my friends used to pretend to be blinded by my pathetic headlights. Comedians one and all.
I put LED tail light clusters into the tail lights years ago...big difference there too. Supplied by Vech.

I've not done anything with the festoon bulbs in the bar-end Hellas... I'm satisfied with the brightness of the incandescent blinkers and their stress on the charging system is only momentary. I gather you have to put an in-line resister to buffer the supply if you use LED's ? Must try them someday.

Good luck with that

I have an LED replacement

I have an LED replacement bulb for my speedometer coming soon, but I realized why my bulb was so pitifully dim-- Someone put a 12 volt bulb in. I'm thinking now that I may just order the original 6 volt and not confuse the next custodian of the bike after I leave it.

Speedo light good find

Yes
I see no advantage of a led for the speedometer
It draws so little current and to put in a led it would most likly be to bright and need a added resistor to dim it

The Led for the headlight and tail lamp is a very good idear as it should be brighter and draw a lot less current from the charging system

Turns out the reason my

Turns out the reason my speedo bulb was so dim was someone put a 12 volt bulb in. I just ordered an incandescent 6 volt from Vech. Should be bright enough. Thanks for all the input everyone
