Has anyone seen a breather for a R69S? Odd, this machine doesn't have one. I just replaced the rear main seal that wasn't too old, I did run the bike pretty hard seeing as the engine has been broken in and it's a fun thing to do... I also was running 20-50 non-synthetic in the tranny, most people tell me to run gear oil 90-wt. It calls for 10-40 in the service manual printed in the 60's.

The bolt that secures the aft

The bolt that secures the aft end of the speedometer cable is a hollow bolt...this is to allow the pressure to equalize.

Breather

So THAT'S why it has a hole! This prompted me to check out my plunger tranny which has the hollow speedo bolt but also has this? I sure don't recall seeing this in my R67/2 tranny I just bolted on last week. There is a dot on the parts manual in this location so I wonder if it's a vent that would enter the atmosphere through the cut-out at the bottom of the case.

That vent is a later

That vent is a later modification by the factory since the hole that used to be there was too small or maybe leaked out too much oil. I saw the factory drawings in the Barrington manual IIRC.
