The story so far - I've been resurrecting the R75/5 that I've owned since 1987. I'm down to things like bars, mirrors, etc. Almost done. I first tried some Flanders 'sidecar' bars, but when I changed the seat they were uncomfortable - had to lean too far forward. I just bought some Flanders S bars (which I'd run on it previously, but generic brand that had some rust issues after 25+ years). The throttle grip slides on easily about 3/4 of the way and then binds. The clutch perch I had to grind out to get it to fit. I've verified part numbers and they are 22mm bars. I'm forced to try and sand/grind down the bar on the right side to get the perch and throttle grip on. Is this just variance in the thickness of the chrome? Has Flanders QC gone downhill? The sidecar bars needed no modifications, and were Flanders also. Both perches are new /6 style. Yes, I could have returned them, but just want to be done, and own a dremel. It wasn't a lot of material to remove on the clutch perch.

Anyone else had to grind perches or bars to get things to fit? It's a real PITA! Resorting to emory cloth to remove as little chrome as possible, but takes forever.

Price difference?

Would it cost more to have your old handlebar re-chromed instead? If you have a few more parts to re-chrome, it'd be better than replacing them with ill-fitting reproductions.

You say you verified the part

You say you verified the part number, but did you actually measure the diameter of the bar to confirm that it is 22mm and not 3/4 inch? It's possible that they were mislabeled.

Yep, I did. The throttle

Yep, I did. The throttle slides smoothly on for the first 3" or so, then binds. The clutch side was thick at the end of the bar, but right at 22mm an inch or so in. Seems like just crappy tolerances for the OD of the bar.
