I recently converted my R50 to 12 volts with the PowerDynamo. I am currently using a cheap Walmart battery but would like to get the bike back to an original look. I've seen photos of empty (dummy) 6 Volt cases and would like to place a 12 v Li Ion inside one of these cases.
Has anyone else done this?
Any idea where I can find the dummy 6 v cases?
Thanks for the help.

Check the specs

I would suggest to check the specs on the powerdynamo and see if your model is compatible with li-ion batteries. I know the one I was looking at specifically said that you should not use a li-ion battery. Just an FYI. Please fill me in on your purchase of the fake battery case and matching battery as I will be in your shoes in the net couple of months.

I have the PowerDynamo and

I have the PowerDynamo and the 12 volt battery in the dummy case.
I can't really take a good look at the brand or serial number of the battery itself for a few days due to work.
I can check it out for you on Friday.

Good move to the PowDyn.
Make sure you keep and store all your original 6 volt parts.

You can get fake battery

You can get fake battery cases from Vech,Tim Stafford ("VS4" on ebay). I have these on all my bikes and look like vintage perfection.
Here is a great 12V battery that fits in the square vintage case.

Here is a awesome rectangular battery case for 1955 -1969 bikes. This is the correct size for these bikes.

For a 6V setup here is the battery I used. SO far so good, has great capacity. This will fit the rectangular case above, but not the square one below. I stick this in the case with a piece of foam to wedge it in place, you can also use a piece of stiff rubber, etc.

Here is a case for 54 and earlier. You will have to find a 6V battery to fit the case. The blue 12V battery at the top of this post will fit in here.
