I was on the phone with Duane

I was on the phone with Duane Ausherman, so I asked. No, they never came from the factory that way. His question was....WHY??? Dual plugging had specific purposes, mostly to stop pinging (the R26 was a low compression engine) or to be able to run on poor gasoline...maybe to also help with cold starting. But it certainly doesn't help with power. I guess it's a WOW factor...and added headache cause now you have to buy more plugs and mess with timing. Static timing has to be advanced nearer to TDC and at the same time the total range of advance needs to be reduced. Too complicated for an R26.
