I changed my R69 over to 12 volts. Now I dont have a head light just the small parking light. White wire to 31 terminal at headlight has power to it with a test light. But I can also jumper a ground to that terminal (head lite terminal board) and the headlight works.
Wire 31 also went to the generator but changed to 12 Volts.
Even tho term. 31 has power can I also put a ground with it....I can with a jumper wire. But need something to stay. All other lights do work.

Did you change all your lamps

Did you change all your lamps (including your headlamp) to 12 volt as well? Assuming the answer is yes.
What conversion kit? I have Powerdynamo but I know there is another good one out there as well.

I have the Powerdynamo. And

I have the Powerdynamo. And did get all the bulbs changed. I decided to take the white wire off the 31 terminal at the head lite board. Then just put a ground wire there. Everything worked great, head light, tail,turn,stop........but. Went for a 27 mile ride and came home the bike wont shut off when taking the key out.....Oh shoot. Jumpered the white wire to terminal 31 at headlight and she stops. Took that wire off cause I didnt think it was doing anything.....well guess what I was wrong.

Run 31 to ground.

Just saw this post - while it is not mentioned in the instructions, you would need to run the heavy brown wire from post 31 to one of the two fasteners holding the voltage regulator. This is shown best in Scottie Sharpe's setup seen here: https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g6oBO2vhpAg/VKdlEt1CiuI/AAAAAAAEYrs/rHAWyOghj....

I am just now modifying my harness for the Powerdynamo and came across this post. I at first puzzled over what to do with the orphaned brown wire from 31 until I was able to determine a good ground from 31 > VR fastener > VR negative (brown) wire to battery > Battery ground at back of transmission. As is discussed without doing this you lose your bulb socket ground via the white wire that is soldered to the back side of post 31.
