Recently I bought what I thought was the best example, ex Poland manufacture. Well it turned out to be with problems.
The rack frame out of square. All the levers very badly machined, holes drilled off centre and angled.
Several hrs of hand filing have brought the rack frame to a reasonable finish. The levers really need recasting and re machining to achieve any resemblance of accuracy. Beware!

It probably was the best

It probably was the best example........they are all horrible. Even the basic geometry is wrong on all the repops.

Repro Pannier Racks

Hi Bruce
Its hard to understand why anyone would make such a mess. I ordered mine un assembled, without welding, as I saw how bad the welds were at the base of ea lever. From the photos supplied, see attached it all looked good, I could see the frame hole at the front was off centre. Well when it arrived all the nicely cast levers had been drilled off centre and not vertical, where the base was rebated
even that was not square and too big for the spring loaded clip holes.
I am trying to get a set out of the mould with no machining, but so far no reply from the seller.
So ea lever will need to be set up and sleeved, then machined. You can see the rack at the front curves down more one side than the other. I've corrected this by filing. The price was good, the proportions appear the closest to the original.
It fits the luggage rack well.

If I can get a set of levers straight from the mould it will make the job a lot easier.
