Hi, I'm a first time poster. Just starting restoration on a 1956 R50.

On my front fender there are 2 clean holes at the front, top side about 1/8" which seem like they were put there at the factory. I haven't seen this on other bikes but have seen where an emblem is attached in a similar location. Does anyone know if there would have been fenders made this way

holes

Frenia,
Are these holes where the front fender stay fastens or are these in a different location?
There were no emblems attached to the front fender.
The only other possibility would the mounting holes where a European registration might have been.
Pics?
Dean

Do you have any pictures?

Do you have any pictures? I'm guessing that these are part of the early days when bike registration plates (also know as pedestrian "slicers") were mounted to the front fenders. Anything like the hole placement in this post?

European dealers sometimes

European dealers sometimes added an oval tag on the very front of the front fender with their name and address on it.

Too close together for a

Too close together for a pedestrian-slicer. I'm going with the medallion theory for registration or dealer advertising.

Perhaps it was for a license

Perhaps it was for a license plate. But they seem to too near. An example:

In my R50, which was firstly sold in France, there are three holes, but in a different location.
