My R100/7's blinkers work fine with the key on and the engine off, but when I start the engine the blinkers blink iradicly and sometimes stops blinking all together. This is the same for left and right blinkers.
I checked all the spade connectors in the light housing, and all wiring seems tight.
Any ideas on what would cause this problem?

Thanks,
Anthony

Sounds like a problem with the turn signal flasher. Maybe to many volts going to flasher when running. Or just a bad flash unit. Try using a flasher from one of your cars.

The flasher units from BMW

The flasher units from BMW are pretty pricey...I bought one a few years ago. They do, however, contain special circuitry which lets the blinker react differently in case one bulb is out somewhere. The part number is 61311358194. Some replacements include a Hella 4DB003425-017, possibly a 4DB003425-001.

Thank you

I will start with the flasher relay. I did not think that was it since it works fine with the engine off, but if there is some sort of regulator in there then that is probably it.

Thanks again

Hella 2479 relay

Anthony,
I disassembled my flasher relay to fix a problem with the Kat Dash I installed,
There’s a write-up with pictures at http://katdash.com/f-a-q/
Scroll down to “About turn signal relays” and click on the “Hella 2479 short” link.
At least it will show you what’s inside that relay.
Good luck,
Randy
