Not R50S

FYI, I ran the VIN's on these bikes (provided by the seller) and they both come up as R60/2 models.
1965 is correct or very close.

The Ad

The actual ad says they are both R60s and you can see from the cylinders that they are. Not sure how the description changed in the post here. Looks like nice project pair.

It is possible they both started as R60s and someone changed the engine on one of them. Not sure though.

The Numbers Will Tell

The engine numbers will tell you what they are, but from the photos provided, the engines are both R60.

"s" valve covers

On my R51/3, I have /5 valve covers to give it a sportier look. To give a hint that the bike is supped up. The /5 covers fit perfectly except they are a little taller and needs a longer stud. Some people confuse my R51/3 for a R68 but I always correct them (mostly Smile ). Pretty sure the R68/R50s valve covers don't work on the standard R60/R50 head.

Because of the limited number

Because of the limited number of R50Ses sold in the US many dealers had R50S valve covers left in stock and were more than happy to sell them to anybody for their R50 or R60.

I went to look at these

I went to look at these bikes. They were locked in a house with cats. I don't know how long they were exposed to cat piss, but I do know that the smell of cat piss could be detected over 10 feet away! It's amazing to see just how corrosive cat piss can be. The bike with the fairing was a favorite target up in the headlight area. The bucket is rusted through. You might be able to get one bike completed out of the 2 with a lot of work and money. It's a shame that the bikes were allowed to get into the condition they are in. It is not the fault of the seller. He got them that way. I fear they have attained parts bike status.
