I had a CAD plater ask me today if I wanted "bright", "dull" or "HCD" finish on my cad nuts, bolts, rear shock adjusters, etc etc.

Which one is the proper finish?

Don't Think

I don't think you want a 'brightener' added. Would give it a finish similar to bright zinc on Japanese bikes. Too bright. I would say dull, but don't know what HCD is. My plater just calls the finish 'white cad'.
