Hi. New member here, with a recently bought US import 1972 R75/5. Tachometer has just started the dreaded propellering, and before I could pull over, destroyed the needle.

To allow me to keep riding, I intend to disconnect the cable from the engine. Do I need to cap it? I am not sure if engine oil can escape once the cable is disconnected. Thanks. Paul

Engine oil will not escape

Engine oil will not escape from the tach cable housing in the engine. However, the gear assy. that spins the cable does have a seal.

See photo. Item #8.
