Looks like I've been registered on here since 2013 or so, but I haven't visited much the last few years. I sold my last Beemer - a 79 R100RS last year, citing a riding position that just wasn't fun anymore. After floundering about for a while, I found a nice R75/6 and am very happy to be back, riding and tinkering with an airhead.
Having only owned R100's over the years, I'm looking forward to learning more about the /6 series bikes.

Wow...that could be my first

Wow...that could be my first BMW motorcycle. I bought a 1976 R75/6 in Havana Gold from DuPage BMW in 1976 from Jim Woodring (?) Enjoy your new ride!

I got the bike from the 2nd

I got the bike from the 2nd owner who had owned it for about 20 years, having gotten it, complete with the Krauser bags and a fairing of some sort - from the family of the original owner. Apparently, it had sat in a garage for several years. He got it with 29,000 miles and he put another 7,000 miles on it in the 20 years he owned it.
I traded an '05 Sportster for it. The Sporty was nice but I was never really a Harley guy. An airhead is more of a piece of machinery than just an appliance.
Can't say I'm crazy about the poo brown, err "Havana Gold" color. But color was secondary to the condition of the bike, which is pretty decent and unmolested. I'll let the color grow on me...

One of life's greatest

One of life's greatest pleasures is a long ride on an old Airhead.

I like the color.

Enjoy!

Welcome back. I've only

Welcome back. I've only posted a handful of times and mostly just around the time I got my airhead in '15. Our bikes are cousins, mine a '76 75/6 in the same Havana Gold, but with the large tank. I'm not 100% thrilled with the color, but it is uncommon and gets a lot of positive comments from folks.

I was thinking of getting a personalized plate reading "HAV Au," but I'm going for something else now.

The recent addition of a 6

The recent addition of a 6 gallon tank makes our bikes twins now, Zieg! I ran across one in Havana Gold on eBay and had to have it!
Between the brown color and the big tank with knee pads, the bike can't get much more stodgy. It feels like an old tweed jacket, complete with elbow patches.
