My 92 R100RT I bought a few weeks ago doesnt have the rubber protective sleeve as they call them. # 46631235500 & 5501.
So how much trouble is it to put new ones in. I cant find a good clear how to.
Thanks

I assume you're talking about

I assume you're talking about the two sleeves that wrap around both fork legs and seal against the fairing?

You'll have to drop the fork tubes down to install them.

FWIW, many people took them out or left them out to get as much air on the rider as possible. I had a '93 RT and although a good bike, it was absolutely miserable riding in any temperature over 65F.

Beeeautiful RT! Congrats!

Beeeautiful RT! Congrats!

The downside is that you've gotta drop the forks, but that isn't too tough and your forks could stand a freshening at their age anyway. Installing the new rubber sleeve is pretty straightforward. I used a little dab of Super-Glue in the trough of the boot and carefully pressed them into place on my 88 R100RS. I let the bike sit in the garage for about 24 hours and they haven't budged since. They see their most abuse when pushing the bike around or turning at very low speeds. I use a little rubber moisturizer on them about once a season as cheap insurance against cracks in the creases.

Yes those are the ones. I had

Yes those are the ones. I had a 84 RT I took to Florida with me when I worked on the railroad. Road it around there for 2 yrs & out to the keys and back. It had those intact but I wore shorts and tank top. And that was 16 yrs+ ago.
Im riding in 40 deg. here on nice days and that kool air coming up is miserable. Damned if I do and damned if I don't. LOL

thanks
