I got a call 2 weeks ago from an old customer of mine when I worked at the local BMW dealership. I hadn't seen the old gent in years and was glad to hear he was still kicking.
He said he had sold his R11RS and R11R but still had his R75/6 that he had purchased new in July of '76 while in the UK.
The bike has been sitting uncovered in his garage for 5-6 years but as requested, I went to look at it.
I offered to get it running or help sell it or whatever he wanted to do with it.
He said he really would rather just give it to me as I was always helpful to him and was very fond of the bike.
I picked it up last week.
It has an early Dyna III ignition, a Telefix fork brace and bags.
I put a battery in it, lubed the cylinders and it cranked right over with spark.
Cleaning the carbs is next. I flushed the tank yesterday.
Hopefully I will fire it tomorrow.
The tank polished up very nice.
Amazing.

First ride around the

First ride around the neighborhood yesterday.
No front brake as it's frozen solid so just putted around.
Shifts very nice.
My '99 RT hardly snarled.

My first vintage BMW was a 76 R75/6 just like yours. It was a great motorcycle that hooked me on the brand. Reliable bulletproof bikes that are pretty quick in their own right.Enjoy!!
