Is there anyone making stainless axles for the R90/6, front and rear. I can find for the rear, no luck on the front. Appreciate any info....Lynn

What about a dealer? Max BMW

What about a dealer? Max BMW shows both on their website.

Where on MAX?

Hey Kurt, I looked at R90/6 and the fiche just shows the standard axles. I searched around and couldn't find the stainless axles.

To be honest, I just found

To be honest, I just found axles...I didn't focus on stainless. Not sure what advantage they offer over an OEM axle.

I suppose if you had two existing axles, a machine shop could make them. Not sure what the price would be...

Moto-Bins

Lynn, Kurt, the axles do rust if the bike is left outside. I got some from
motobins.co.uk
Part number for the 17mm front is 59520S. They also have the SS washer and nut.

Thanks...I guess that's not

Thanks...I guess that's not an issue for me...though it can be quite humid in south Texas. No problems with my OEM axles in over 100K miles since 1978.

Shaw Stainless

Over here in the UK both the major BMW airhead suppliers, Motorworks and Motobins, buy their stainless parts from Chris Shaw who runs Shaw Stainless: http://www.shawstainless.co.uk/index.php/4

Chris is a really helpful guy and I found prices tended to be a bit cheaper by going to him direct. He made me a one-off spindle for an R65LS a while back!

Thanks for the information

Thanks for the information Randy, I plan on replacing both axles with stainless as I do with the spokes and all bolts, nuts etc. I talked to the gentleman from Boxerwerks at Barber, he said they make their own axles out of stainless so there is another avenue....Lynn
