I recently came across a 1977 R100RS for a decent price so I scarfed it up. I was doing some research on it and I foound a very old thread on this forum where a guy was asking some questions about a 1977 R100RS and a gentleman replied back to him that if the serial number did not have a "CFO" in front of it, that the bike was worth more money. I can't find a "CFO" anywhere on mine, and I was wondering if anyone knows what this means?

Thanks

Centex -CFO stands for

Centex -

CFO stands for California-Florida-Oregon...this was a configuration required by these states to reduce pollution. I recall this being discussed on the BMW MOA forum:

http://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread.php?68837-1977-R100RS-Big-Motor-How-...

You should be able to read this thread...you wouldn't be able to post anything unless you were to become a member.

You could also google "bmw motorcycle cfo" and read the various websites that provide information.
