Here it is for your viewing pleasure. I plagiarized the red tank idea from a guy out in France.

Amber lenses are probably not

Amber lenses are probably not technically legal in the US, but used to be a requirement in France, though not in the last couple decades at least.

turning my r100/7 into a cafe and wanted to run a yellow headlight, figured if i get pulled over - easy to switch it back over to clear.

In NY they are absolutely not

In NY they are absolutely not legal as a headlamp. Reserved for Class 2 emergency vehicles like tow truck, snow plows, flat beds, etc. so unless you can make someone believe you are on your way to or from a motorcycle show...

I do have amber lenses on the driving/fog lights on my Ural sidecar rig and have never been pulled over yet. I think I get a pass because no one can really figure out what its about or how old it is? But anyone looking to bust my chops, they could.

Just don't turn them on...

Owners of vintage European cars often have amber lenses in their fog lights, and new ones are still available from, for example, Mercedes Benz. As long as they are not used as primary lights, I don't know of anyone who has been cited.

Yellow lenses are not sold in the US but are legal to use if installed on the vehicle. That is what I have learned. Lexus cars are sold in the US with yellow fog lights......
