Hi all,
Anyone know of anyone in the northeast currently doing good frame straightening? New England, NY, NJ, PA maybe a little further. I have a R27 that I think someone drove into a wall--and not straight on. I know about the gentlemen on the west coast that do great work and will ship out there if need be but I would like to hand the frame to the person doing the work.
Thanks.

Larry

Oh no, wifes coming home- get the engine out of the oven!
"Are those bearings in the freezer?!" she calmly inquired

Larry, The only frame

Larry,

The only frame shop that I have any experience with is FrameCrafters. They're near Chicago. Probably further away than you're looking for, but they do good work.

Frame Straightening

If you are going to ship the frame, why does it matter how far away it is?

I would send the frame to Vern Feuston at GT Enterprises in Montegue CA. - http://www.snowcrest.net/gte/

He is the best - has all the tools and jigs etc...

If I ship it is going to

If I ship it is going to Vern. He is definatley the man! I have chatted with him about it. Hoping to find a closer place to hand it off and discuss it.

I lived in Corona once upon a time......

Frame Measurements

Hi All - I restored an R50/2 five or six years ago, and just bought a 67 R69S to give it another go! I bought the R69S in pieces so I've never had it rolling, but the front engine cover has a slight dent, so I want to have the frame and earles front checked before I get too far into painting things. I live 45 minutes from Framecrafters in Illinois (sminn560sl recommended them above) so would prefer to avoid sending the frame to California to be checked

I called Randy at Framecrafters and he said he could do the work, but asked me to get my hands on the "'standard steering head angle and where measured from." He also said specs for the motor mount area would be helpful too.

Does anyone have a frame diagram or measurements they have put together from a known straight frame? I did a search of the forum and google, and unfortunately have come up empty on actual measurements.

I will make sure to post pics of the resto as it moves along

Thanks!
Todd

Can't say as I've seen

Can't say as I've seen anything. The wheelbase for the R69S is 1415mm. I believe that is from plumb bob locations dropped from each axle. The BMW workshop manual gives a value of 95mm for trail of the front wheel for solo set up. Maybe from those numbers, it would be possible to get the dimensions needed.

Thank you Kurt, I appreciate

Thank you Kurt, I appreciate the info. I also sent an email to the BMW archives this afternoon (they are on vacation for a few days)
