I placed a $500.00 deposit on this bike to hold until February when I will be able to pay in full. Does anyone have any information on this seller and can I trust them? He sent me videos of the bike and updated pictures. He is supposed to send the original documents to me prior to me paying the bike in full. I figured this would make me feel a little more secure with the transaction. Regardless, sending 13,000 via wire transfer to a foreign land really makes me nervous. I have plenty of time to investigate this and want to feel 100% positive that this is a legit sale. Below is the link to the website.. Any input will be appreciated!

Invoice

By the way, here is the invoice. The original deal was, he would cover the cost of shipping to Norfolk, Va. When I later asked if it could be shipped to a Chicago port, he advised that it was possible. He later responded stating that it would be an extra $240.00, but he would meet me half way. So, $120.00 extra for it to be shipped to Chicago. Sounds to good to be true, but I don't know.

Nice bike...also nice

Nice bike...also nice website, seems to be relatively OK....I know nothing about them, though. Interesting that the invoice uses a picture of Anke-Eve Goldmann.

Thanks for response.

Thanks.. I feel good about it, but I'm going to do everything I can to make sure everything is right. I see only some things that are wrong on the bike such as petcock, horn, and air filter.. All small things. The paperwork looks good. Vech offered to look into this too. He seems like a really helpful guy. If I get this bike, he will be the one I do business with. He has been pretty awesome.

Do you know the name of the person you are dealing with?

The are some good guys and some not so good guys in that area. The name of the company is not familiar to me.

His name

His name is on the above email that I posted. He is going to send me another video of the bike making some passes through the gears. I had a lengthy conversation with him on the phone earlier. I pretty convinced this is legit. He is going to send the original documentation from 1938 to me prior to me wiring the balance of the bike. Having that paperwork in my hand will make me feel more confident in completing the transaction..

That is not a name that I recognize.....which is not bad. I lived in Europe for 15 years and bought an R12 from a dealer in Holland when I was in Italy. Fortunately, I was close enough to go check it out and everything was as advertised. Others have not been so fortunate.

Your dealer seems very straightforward. Good luck!

Have him send a picture of

Have him send a picture of him with the bike holding a newspaper with a very recent date on it,this may help showing a person and some proof of current ownership.

That's kind of what I was facetiously saying!

I ended up injuring my back

I ended up injuring my back and couldn't go through with the purchase. I'm back in the market, but can't spend more than 9 grand. Maybe an R2 or something. If not, I may have to settle with a war era DKW.
